Hula Hoops

Back now to 1973 when KP launched the potato chips in the shape of hoop, something you could push your tongue into and taste the flavour before biting it and swallowing whole.

The original plain red packets with a plain taste, and of course the Green Cheese and Onion flavours that were more up my street in the 1970’s, but my real favourite was the Blue packet containing Salt and Vinegar flavours of sheer delight to my taste buds.
Strange to think I liked them so much, but apart from Potatoes and starch and flavouring there really was nothing much to them. But I certainly liked them.

“It’s so happy crunching Hula Hoops, Crisper than a crisp — they’re Hula Hoops,
Hula Hoops, Hula Hoops, Hula Hoops, Crispy Hula Hoops,
It’s crunchy when you’re munching Hula Hoops. You should come and stay with Hula Hoops,
New potato rings — they’re Hula Hoops, Hula Hoops, Hula Hoops, Hula Hoops,
Crispy Hula Hoops,
It’s crunchy when you’re munching Hula Hoops,
So crunchy when you’re munching Hula Hoops”

70s Retro Sweets

If you had to describe sweets from the 70s one word you would not use is boring. The seventies produced some of the wackiest ideas for confectionary you have ever known. From candy that explodes in your mouth to popcorn type sweets called HankyPanky, a selection of chocolates in a bar and coconut flavoured strands of chewy sugar wrapped in a tobacco type pouch called Spanish Gold.
