Cadbury’s Fudge

All together now everyone.

“A finger of Fudge is just enough to give the kids a treat,
A finger of fudge is just enough until it’s time to eat.
It’s full of Cadbury goodness, and very small and neat,
A finger of fudge is just enough to give the kids a treat.”

Yes that was a playground speciality song from the 1970’s, it was a catchy jingle for us school kids, and even more importantly it was great chocolate too.

It was a really simple idea, a delicious outer layer of the standard milk chocolate, with a great inner layer of fudge. It was soft and great tasting, it really was one of the best of the chocolates that helped me get real spotty in the 1970’s.

The chocolate delight was started in the UK back in 1948, and was a staple diet for myself, I just could not get enough of it. No worries about teeth being hurt here, it was double softness and I am sure there were more fudge wrappers in the school playground than others.

After all these years Fudge is still on sale, but come on guys what happened to the size?

70s Retro Sweets

If you had to describe sweets from the 70s one word you would not use is boring. The seventies produced some of the wackiest ideas for confectionary you have ever known. From candy that explodes in your mouth to popcorn type sweets called HankyPanky, a selection of chocolates in a bar and coconut flavoured strands of chewy sugar wrapped in a tobacco type pouch called Spanish Gold.
