Cadbury’s Picnic Bar

This was not one of my favourite bars either, but I know it was well loved by some of you other boomers out there. It was a mixture of Peanuts and Nougat with a milk chocolate covering. The bar has been around since 1958, and has had many varieties in different territories, but the UK version was the only version to have raisins also inside them.

In the UK the great DJ and comedian Kenny Everett was the voice over man with “Cadbury’s Picnic has so many nutty bits it won’t stand up on its end! Look!”.

In Australia this product was and still is a huge success, and perhaps I would have loved it more if the UK dropped the raisins, just a thought. The Australians TV ad said “ “More like a banquet than a picnic.

70s Retro Sweets

If you had to describe sweets from the 70s one word you would not use is boring. The seventies produced some of the wackiest ideas for confectionary you have ever known. From candy that explodes in your mouth to popcorn type sweets called HankyPanky, a selection of chocolates in a bar and coconut flavoured strands of chewy sugar wrapped in a tobacco type pouch called Spanish Gold.
