Wallpapers and House Decoration of the Seventies

Hattie – I remember all the bright Flock wallpaper and cork tiles on doors. Bold Paint and bold china too…. My parents were not that hip but remember my first flat had cork tiles! I soon took them off mind you! Cant imagine waking up to a bold room now. I know in some of the shops some of those bold patterns are back in fashion and almost ten times the prices of what they were

Lainybins – I seem to recall we had bright orange vinyl wallpaper in the front room with matching orange curtains and a vivid orange sheepskin rug…. *shudder*

Rennie – can anyone remember putting up the wood panelling stuff on their walls?

Hattie – My Parents still have that

Lainybins – My older brother had lime green bedroom curtains with a weird kind of caterpillar design on them. I still use them as dust-sheets to this day! (Actually, I’ve a feeling I still have the afore-mentioned orange curtains in the shed somewhere….I really should throw stuff away!)

Rennie – Don’t throw them out you could make a very nice 70s fancy dress outfit out of them.

Sparky – Didn’t a drab brown feature heavily during the seventies?

I started building Escape in 2005 and in it’s early form I had the pleasure of a great 70s community. Sadly with Escape’s new design we couldn’t incorporate the old threads into the new forum but so we don’t lose all those magical old chats we’ve collected them all here for you to go back and read.
