Awombleforever – The Exorcist was a very big film of the 70s but I couldn’t go see it as I was too young .I did read the book at the time tho.There was so much hype ,like a lot of films .I found the book very scarey

Nix – I read the book first as well, when I was about maybe 12-ish. Scared the hell out of me. I didn’t even want the thing in the same room with me. And being Catholic, it wasn’t like I hadn’t heard about exorcisms before. Here in St. Louis one was performed years and years ago at the old Alexian Bros. hospital, supposedly the case that would serve as inspiration for “”The Exorcist”” (see below link).

Hattie – I have never read the book ……wont have it in the house sure scared the heck out of me…….. film is funny watched it when i was 40 ………. scarey but true

Rocksgirl – I didnt see the exorcist til i was 31, 3 years ago, too young obviously when it came out first then banned lol. Have to admit, i suppose i was hardened to horror by that point so it wasnt as shocking as i thought it was going to be but still had some pretty yuk bits in it.. for a 70s film, i reckon it was right up there back then!

James Blast – The Exorcist is one of those films seared into the Blast psyche, that to this day I have never watched it, nor do I want to.
@Nix I too am Catholic (practising) but I think your point about exorcism is more an American thing.

Rocksgirl – i think i was more shocked at the language in Exorcist than anything else. To see this sweet girl possessed and coming out with such filth.. i hate really bad language, especially the C word and MF… i cant handle them.

Natasha – I read the book, then saw the movie and took along my younger brother Well, when we got home, I hid and scared him to death….I laughed and laughed but he didn’t seem to think it was as funny as I did. Anyway, the older movies are a lot more interesting then the newer horror shows in my opinion.

Tanktop – Could not pay me to see such yuk, however I watched the comedy film with Leslie Neilson taking the mickey out of The Exorcist fun without the doom and gloom.

Sparky – I remember the clergy walking along the cinema queues telling us it was the work of the devil and we shouldn’t go in. – But we did
