That’ll be the day and Stardust

Awombleforever – Just bought these ,I saw them both when they came out,I seem to remember That’ll be the day more,I was too young to get in I think but I went with my much older sis and got in.
Don’t know how as I’m only 5ft tall now?I was tiny then.Got half price on bus when I was 16
Anyway loved the soundtrack dearly ,had the album ,played and played it ,in fact I wore it out.
Also fancied David Essex something rotton at the time but then again who didn’t (females of course).
The lure of the fairground, many a young girl lost it there I’m sure.

James Blast – Both are among my most very favourite films, I have them both taped off the telly. Haven’t given them an outing for a while, must remedy that. I too went to the pictures to see the first one, I must say Stardust totally escaped me till some time in the late 80s. The acting, playing and stories are really excellent with many a great character: Robert Lyndsay as the “”Well bugger me!”” right on trad jazz, duffle coat wearing student; Keith Moon as… well himself; Adam Faith as the wheeler dealer; Larry Hagman as JR and of course Jim Maclaine. All that and The Who’s Long Live Rock!
Phew! Rock ‘n’ Roll

Rennie – hmm will have to get these again, I was that’ll be the day and enjoyed it but cant remember much about them, Will have to give them a viewing and see what other faces pop up.

Rennie – Anyone see it last night? That’ll be the day? Was so funny seeing Robert Lindsay and even Marlene (Only Fools) took me awhile to figure out who she was. Now waiting for Stardust.

Jack Regan – How did I miss it, one of my faves especially the bit when he chalks up the notches in lipstick. I loved Stardust as well, there is a bit when he builds up to the big finale
in a white suit, well the song he sings is a the sanctus in a mass setting by Gounod, great stuff.
I know The Day Of The Jackal was on bbc1, yes its a 60’s film but I first saw it in the 70’s. Another classic film.

James Blast – Aye! was captivated by The Day Of The Jackal last night, didnae ken it wiz frae the 60s ‘tho. Still a real cool movie, loved the grumpy frumpy French detective.

Hattie – Gosh didnt see this been looking over lots on site today. Both were my favorites too gosh went with my mum to see first one at Pictures …was way ahead of its time Ringo Starr in it too was good and cried bout the dog too
Both are rated in my book

Bolan-ette – Did anyone watch these two films over the weekend on Film 4 brilliant David Essex and Adam Faith all in one go what more could a girl need!!!!!!!!!

Tanktop – Where’s the film Bambi when you want it only joking, I managed to catch the last bit of Stardust which I last saw at the cinema gosh that was a fair few years ago, Adam Faith saying to Jim WHAT DO YOU WANT IF YOU DON’T WANT MONEY and poor old David Essex shouting to the kids ROCK ON

Johnny7and ChadValli – Hi All, Just got a copy of ‘NEVER TOO OLD TO ROCK’ featuring The Rubettes, Glitterband, Mud, Slik on DVD. It was pretty naff then and it hasn’t changed much, but the Music is great. Still available on EBAY and it came from the official GLITTERBAND fan club www.glitterband.com (or i could run a copy off as long as nobody found out!! eck)

Rennie – I’ve got that, haven’t watched it all yet… looked pretty bad to me but I will revisit it when I’m all sorted. Should be a laugh

Awombleforever – I got it too ages ago ,from same source. Have mentioned it on here,it was fun to watch but for nostalgia only.

Jack Regan – Taped this off the telly during channel 4@s 70’s weekend ages ago. Great stuff.
Love the 3 Mud tracks at the end.”
