Star Wars

Brains – Film of the decade must be Star Wars….the music, the first scene….everyone gasped. What a memory.

Rennie – It was something else I must admit, took the sci fi genre forward generations as it were.

Rennie – Happy Star Wars Day everyone. MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!

Mark UK – That’s terrible….. who’s going to see the new one then?

Rennie – I shall be going, looks great from the trailers.

Mark UK – I can remember going to see the first one and being in such awe of the special effects.
Superb film but not my favourite of the decade. Alien just pips it for me. The film was just so scary.

Karen – mmmm not bad, better on TV with remote to pause….scenes. Great graphics

Awombleforever – star wars was the best ever film of the 70s,it was just amazing,I took my neice to see it ,she was about 10 at the time,it must have been fantastic for someone that age to see, real ground breaking stuff, wonderful.

Goldencup – I will never forget seeing Star Wars for the first time. My friends and I queued for ages to get in, sat there in awe all the way through it, came out and without a word rejoined the queue to see it all over again! It’s still my favourite film of all time.
Hattie Also remember going to see star wars when it first came out ……Queue was huge, think we got there early to make sure we got in…….it was im sure before seats were allocated like they r now …….was a brill film

James Blast – an undisputed classic, films were never the same after that

Tanktop – May the FORCE be with you, EVENIN’ ALL

Rennie – I always preferred Alien to Star Wars but my three favourite sci fi movies have got to be.

Bladerunner

The Forbidden Planet – Good ol Robbie

The Day the Earth Stood Still

Tanktop – Probably get a lot of stick for this but honesty is the best policy. Don’t get me wrong about Star Wars because I’ve seen them all and enjoyed them but I would not say it was the greatest film, ok it was cowboys N indians in space but as Rennie listed his three favourite films I would put The day the earth stood still at the top. My reasons are it had a good story, good acting, a good cast and most important a strong message of believe from the main star Michael Rennie….If you go to war with one another eventually you will kill one another, the whole planet will cease to exist, all we ask is for you to get along and stop this madness….Well look around people on tv, in the news, seems to be going that way now

Rennie – Re Bladerunner I’ve never read the book but always fancied it. I’ll have to check it out reading angels and demons at the mo.

Awombleforever – As long as you don’t fancy the sheep

Hattie – I havnt really got three fave films from the seventies.. mine r a bit sloppy i spose….but will put them as i did go to see them. first film i saw lol as a teenager Towering Inferno

film i went to see with my nan Tommy
That’ll be the day
and The way we were

I think i would enjoy actualy seeing anyone of those again …..didnt like the bit in tommy when he got the chicken bone stuck mind !!

James Blast – everyone knows The Empire Strikes Back is thee best SW movie

I started building Escape in 2005 and in it’s early form I had the pleasure of a great 70s community. Sadly with Escape’s new design we couldn’t incorporate the old threads into the new forum but so we don’t lose all those magical old chats we’ve collected them all here for you to go back and read.
