Need help finding lost toy

Endeavour – Hello All, I need help(trying to recapture childhood).I am looking for a toy figure of a viking about 12 tall possibly 1/6 scale almost like an action man,he had blonde hair and green moulded on clothing he came with a helmet, axe, shield, rubber cloak and skirt.
His head ,arms and legs were articulated-I had this figure in the mid-seventies possibly between 73 and 76. I cannot recall the makers name. If it rings a bell with anyone any help would be appreciated.

I am now a big kid who still collects toys! Cheers Paul

Rennie – Hi Endeavour and welcome to the site. Womble may know what you’re talking about as she started collecting 70s stuff in the 60’s! I’ve only just recently started sifting through the boot fairs and will look out for what you seek. I’ve managed to get my favourite game *Battling Tops* which I’m the Butlins so all are welcome to challenge in May for the coveted title.
Was the Viking from a TV series at all or is there any other clue you can give us.

Awombleforever – No sorry dont remember it but wrong time for me as was getting a bit older then.My nephews/neices might know so when I see them I will ask them.

Endeavour – Hi Rennie, Thanks for the welcome-no he wasnt from a TV programme he was just a generic viking possibly called Eric! The one that I had was used for darts practice!!! If we only knew then what we know now looking after our toys and keeping the boxes but would we have had as much fun???
Cheers Paul

Rennie – LOL Thats true I remember having a huge monkey that I took great delight in throwing up in the air and punching it to the wall. One bad thing was that he had a solid face and it would really hurt if you caught him flush on the jaw.

Awombleforever – Just searched on internet and found this,is this your viking toy?
I have found some of these figures on ebay mainley in usa canada, think they must have been american .They did a reproduction later ,these aren’t as expensive as the original which seems to fetch a few bob. Theres is even one for sale with his horse.

Hi awombleforever,
Thanks for your reply-I nearly jumped out of my seat when I hit the link that is exactly the same figure that I had and I had forgotten about all the accessories. My dad used to be a docker here in Belfast and all sorts of weird and wonderful items used to be brought home we didnt ask how or why he got them apparently the shipping crates were very fragile then!!! So maybe thats where my elusive viking came from? Once again thanks for your help-now go check bank account then hit ebay! Cheers Paul

Rennie – Glad you found it Endeavour, Womble is the Ebay queen

I started building Escape in 2005 and in it’s early form I had the pleasure of a great 70s community. Sadly with Escape’s new design we couldn’t incorporate the old threads into the new forum but so we don’t lose all those magical old chats we’ve collected them all here for you to go back and read.
