Mattel Talk Up Doll

Fairy – anyone remember this.. a herd plastic doll with a huge head and a tiny body.
the head was attatched by a string you pulled the head and body apart and as the to parts met again she said annoying things like * hehe i’m so happy * i’m sooooo silly * are you silly too * i can fit in your pocket*
i had one with blonde hair , dunno where she went but they are collectors items now.as they were made for 1 yr only (1971) i bought one from Ebay for £22, she’s almost perfect still has her proper blue dress and talks….. last week one the same sold for over £50 on e bay……. i was like a little kid again when i got mine

Awombleforever I’m not sure about that one fairy,I never had one anyway. The head parting from the body on a string does ring a bell though.

Fairy – i was just a baby in 71 got mine in 76, which is odd as they were only made for the 1 yr. i think they were all sent to some discount shop and became popular then

LouLou – I still have a doll from 1976 called talking Nanette. She has long blonde hair and wears a blue dress. She has a string comes from her back and when pulled says 8 different sayings. I can only remember three for now but next time I am in my mams attic I will get it down and see what else she says. anyway the three are : Isn’t my dress pretty * Will you be my friend * I love parties don’t you”

LouLou – Typical the moment I post I remember the fourth saying is……..
I go to the ballet.

Goldencup – Just like you then Loulou!

Karen – Yikkes both my sister and I had one of those……we loved it…wound up our parents at all sorts of odd hours……..hehehe

Gasmonkey – Hi there Fairy I had a similar doll, only it had brown plastic hair, and when you pulled the head away from the body it would come up with the following phrases in an annoying american accent:
I’ve lost my head over you!
I’m falling apart, ha ha
Here comes my body!
My feet are getting closer!
Wee boing!

I used to drive my older brothers insane by playing with that doll constantly…….I really miss that doll Should anyone know the whereabouts of one, I would really love to get it again……thanks ”

I started building Escape in 2005 and in it’s early form I had the pleasure of a great 70s community. Sadly with Escape’s new design we couldn’t incorporate the old threads into the new forum but so we don’t lose all those magical old chats we’ve collected them all here for you to go back and read.
