Hot Pants

Imp – I loved my hot pants. They were bright orange with a big pink heart on the bib part, used to wear them with all kinds of funky t-shirts and blouses, they weren’t very tight though like the one’s the top of the pops dancers wore… maybe because I was only about 8 or 9 years old

Hattie – Hi Imp used to have Pink hotpants here used to wear them with one of those long baggy sleeved tops…. do u remember the swimming costumes with a ring in the middle too, had white orange and pink one (was like a bikini but joined in the middle) …..remember having a long sleeved top with the flag on too………… amazing what i remember since coming on this site ………..

Pelican – Wow! I’d forgotten hot pants. I had black ones and, believe it or not, I remember wearing them with high healed sandles. I wouldn’t let my daughter dress like that now!

Imp – I remember those swimming costumes Hattie!!! I think mine was lime green and yellow with a big silver ring LOL, forgotten all about that

Imp – I’m pretty sure my parents didn’t like me dressing like that then but with two older sisters, they didn’t really get much say in the matter, if they could then I could, that was my argument LOL

James Blast – they weren’t hot but they were most definately pants!

Rennie – There’s some on Ebay via fashion page. I’ve been looking for a new pair of platforms and some clobber for Butlins but it’s all womens stuff!!! So it looks like I could be a 70’s drag queen for Bogner!!!

Rennie – I wish I still had my silthlike 28″ waist

Imp – Well if we’re going into the “”wish I had”” thing…… LOL
Wish my joints didn’t crack when I moved, wish gravity would give me a rest and wish my waistline was as easy to keep as trim as it used to be.
Other than that…
Actually I was shopping and was definitely looking at those gypsy skirts that are all the rage these days, blast from the past again though. Problem is if you’re anything over a size 8 you look awful in them, and its too hot to get the exercise machines out again

Rennie – I don’t know I look pretty good in mine *winks* No chance with the Hotpants tho

Imp – But would either really go with a Starsky cardigan though Ren? Especially in this weather LOL

Rennie – Well that’s irrelevant COS I AINT GOT ONE!!!!!!!!!

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*throws teddy on floor and jumps up and down on it*

Hattie – Talk about weather do u remember those clear plastic mushroom shaped umbrellas they were cool

Imp – There there dear Actually still looking for that pattern so you never know Ren LOL.

Imp – I had one of those Hatts! The coloured bit was red, and they were totally ineffectual against any kind of rain except drizzle lol, the only good thing about it was it didn’t blow inside out but it looked good We called them goldfish bowls.

Hattie Think mine had a yellow trim imp…. did you used to have one of those multi coloured ponchos too, mine was class very bright though!!

Imp – Had loads of those Hatts, my grandmother was a great knitter and crocheter (if there is such a word LOL) really made me smile when I saw them for sale in the shops a while ago, and how much they cost as well LOL

Hattie – I know how expensive were they…..!! Just never seemed the same did they! Hatts

Sandie – Hotpants, Blimey…..Only ever had one pair bought the rest were made by my nan..
Mind you they were made out of anything that could be found. Old Curtains…….MIS (Mental Image Syndrome)…. being one.
And some awful material was in fashion then too…..horrible nylon …Chaff……..don’t go there……………lol

Glittergal – My nan made me some hotpants which I wore in 1972 when I was 9,green, they were

Awombleforever – I remember having a red pair, think they were shorts witha a bib made up from some material that matched with cross over straps on back, bib and brace type.Sure they were not shop bought ones. Didn’t really have the money then.
One item I do remember getting new was a sailor suit, dark purple ,double breasted short top with sailer type squared flap at the back.a skirt to match, short flared. It had gold ribbon or pipeing in double stripes following the outline of the sailer back and collar in front ,also on hem of matching skirt. Also gold buttons on top.It was a thick jersey type material.
I loved this and it was favorite of mine.Bought in a local boutique in 1971-1972.
