70s Concept Art Shows NASA’s Dream Future

I just had to show you this which I just stumbled upon. When everyone was dreaming about colonising new worlds artists of the day didn’t hold back on their visualization of the future.

As you can see from the images they let their imagination run wild with the colonisations of new planets and enormous space stations but yet somehow they still seem retro.

Looking at them now the one thing that seems to come across from all of them is hope.

Graham Parker Re-union Rumour

Some great news has come to my ears that one of the great bands of the seventies have reformed and have released a new album. I can remember seeing them at Blackbush Airport supporting Bob Dylan and they are responsible for one of my favourite tracks “Hey Lord don’t ask me questions.”

So I’m a very happy bunny to see them reform and now waiting to see when they’re going to tour.

Director Judd Apatow surprised singer Graham Parker last summer with an offer to play himself in his upcoming comedy “This Is 40.”

Parker accepted. Then he turned the tables on Apatow with some news of his own: After 30 years apart, Parker and his legendary punk/pub rock backing band the Rumour had reunited.

A huge fan of Parker’s work, Apatow was so thrilled he put the band in the film — a “Knocked Up” spinoff starring Paul Rudd that hits theaters Dec. 21.

“He asked me if I could act,” Parker said from New York City. “I told him I’d done that posing thing in a bunch of videos years ago and that singers don’t really act, they mug. But he still put me in the film and flew the whole band out for two days of shooting.”

For such Rumour die-hards as Apatow, the reunion is a long time coming. The band plays its first Boston gig since the early ’80s tonight at the Wilbur Theatre.
