Genoa 1970s

Genoa 1970’s. Throughout the 1970s, Genoa would play the role of a yo-yo club, bouncing up and down between divisions. Under the management of Arturo Silvestri the club made its way back to Serie A for the 1973–74 season, but they were relegated straight back down. For the return of Il Grifone to Serie A a couple of seasons later, the squad featured the likes of Roberto Rosato, Bruno Conti and a young Roberto Pruzzo (pictured) Roberto Pruzzo was born at Crocefieschi, in the province of Genoa, Pruzzo made his debut in professional football for Genoa C.F.C. in 1973. There he remained for six season, scoring 57 goals in 143 matches.

Growing up in the 70's you were forced to pick a football team very early on and schooldays were made up of ribbing your mates if your team beat theirs so you always picked the top teams and not necessarily the local team (Leyton Orient weren't noted for their first division presence) to avoid the abuse if your team lost.

It's with regard to these memories that I'm exceptionally pleased to tell you that we've teamed up with the UK's leading online retro football shirt merchant to bring you all the old retro football shirts our heroes used to wear whilst we watched them on the terraces or on "The Big Match" .
