Thursday 20th April 2008 is a special date thousands of Robins’ fans scattered across the globe, because it marks the 32nd Anniversary of their club’s last promotion to top-flight football. That evening Bristol City beat Portsmouth 1-0, at Ashton Gate wearing this classic shirt, before a blissful crowd of 27,394, thanks to Clive Whitehead’s third minute scorcher.

Growing up in the 70's you were forced to pick a football team very early on and schooldays were made up of ribbing your mates if your team beat theirs so you always picked the top teams and not necessarily the local team (Leyton Orient weren't noted for their first division presence) to avoid the abuse if your team lost.
