Tommy

Lindy – went to leicester square to see this… elton john and some of the who were in it ..thought i was very grown up..it was a kind of pop musical about a deaf dumb and blind boy that could play the pinball machines..bit weird with lots of platform shoes….

Imp – The Who at their best in my opinion!! But have to say my favourites were Uncle Ernie (Keith Moon) and “”Fiddle About”” and Cousin Kevin (Paul Nicholas) and the song “Cousin Kevin” LOL
Guess I was warped from an early age and it just got worse as I got older.

Rennie – Paul Nicholas gets about can anyone guess what other musical film he was in in the seventies? Clue he played a pop/rock star

Imp – I was going to say “Stardust”
I can remember him having a hit with “”Dancing with the Captain”” too but I don’t know when that was LOL

Tanktop – Must have been 75/76 he also sung Granmas party, but he was in a great series called Just good friends.

Rennie – Nope none of the above Quite a big film from what I remember.
Clue. The film was about another music star.

Tanktop – The Jazz singer and as for your other music trivia..I aint a clue please another clue

Rennie – thats it Tank well done he’s the pop star who covers *love on the rocks* punk style.

Hattie – Lindy, my nan took me to see Tommy in Leicester Square too! What year was that does anyone know?

Lindy – Hattie..I think it might have been 1972 …I was 15

Rennie – For me Elton stole the show with the Pinball Wizard song. Those platforms were just soooo huge!!

Karen – Elton is ‘simply the best’ – better than all the rest……

Pelican – “Simply the best” is Tina Turner! She was still with Ike in the 70s.
I’ve got Elton’s Autograph from the 70s, do you think it’s worth much?

James Blast – I’m a massive fan of The (mighty) Who but for me Ken Russell’s film was a shambles, sorry folks

I started building Escape in 2005 and in it’s early form I had the pleasure of a great 70s community. Sadly with Escape’s new design we couldn’t incorporate the old threads into the new forum but so we don’t lose all those magical old chats we’ve collected them all here for you to go back and read.
