The Denim Jacket

Awombleforever – I had a denim jacket ,like most people had then .I was very young and thought I was being clever at the time. I loved Mud they were one of my favourite bands but I also loved Greasers or rockers as they could be called. I thought Id fool my mum so I put a square of material on the back of it with I love Greasers and I cleverly made another square to go on top saying I love Mud to cover it.
I used poppers to cover the Greaser one with the mud one. I then went out proudly displaying my I love mud on the back and when I got to my destination would take it off. Did I really think my mum couldn’t undo poppers

Rennie – *laughing* just shows us men how conniving you women can be. So what’s new???

Rockerator – I use to have names of all the rock bands over mine.

Rocksgirl – this was maybe an 80s thing but i used to have all my fave bands badges on my denim jacket

Rennie – I used to hve the obligatory Dollar and the smiley

Awombleforever – And of couse it had to be smothered in patcho li oil, that smell still turns me on

Goldencup – Not forgetting the denim jacket’s little cousin – the denim waistcoat! Then there were the jean suits – matching jeans and jackets with embroidery, beading etc. I used to live in mine.

Rocksgirl – funny how things come back cos i’ve got a denim waistcoat that i bought a couple of years ago! Lol

Hattie – I didn’t have a denim jacket, mine used to be this bright orange jacket with a tie belt in the seventies, i lost it at school when i was 15 for a whole term, then it turned up at the beginning of term again, spose it went out of fashion for the person who wore it

Lainybins – I was never allowed a denim jacket in the 1970’s so had to wait until about fifteen years ago until I eventually got mine! I did, however, have a long navy blue cardigan that had to have the sleeves cut off as I went through the elbows (bored at school with elbows on desk). I put badges all the way down it ~ Osmonds fan club badge, Bay City Rollers fan club badge, my old Tufty Club badge, my Ovaltines badge, badges of Dennis the Menace and Gnasher, of Pooh and Piglet, a Smiley badge (of course!), badges from places I’d visited on family holidays and ~ strangely ~ a Hawkwind badge. My older brother saw the band whilst he was at Uni and brought a handful of tin badges back with him. I had no idea who they were or what they sounded like, but the badge was real cool! Something else I need to rummage about for *sigh*.

I started building Escape in 2005 and in it’s early form I had the pleasure of a great 70s community. Sadly with Escape’s new design we couldn’t incorporate the old threads into the new forum but so we don’t lose all those magical old chats we’ve collected them all here for you to go back and read.
