Poncho’s

Awombleforever – The poncho made a big impact around 1970,all the girls were wearing them,I was poor so had to make do with an old brown table cloth with a fringe,I cut a hole for the head,it was my poncho.
My friend had a flouresant green and pink hand crocheted one. They have made a comeback and guess what,I now have 2 pink ones a white one and a black one,I love them.

Hattie – Mine was crochet brown and orange back in the seventies …….oddly i only have a brown one and have only worn it once or twice ……got it in the sales …….they were really expensive dont u think Womble?

LouLou – my mam knitted me ponchos in every imaginable colour with that funny wool that was all different colours run into each other.

Nix – I had a creamy-white one, and a purple/pink one. Oh, the humanity.

Lainybins – I had a blue and white striped poncho with a white fringe that my Gran crocheted for me. She made my little sister a red and white one. I’ve been rifling through my photo collection trying to find a picture but it seems I was particularly camera-shy whenever I wore mine…. Probably just as well!

I started building Escape in 2005 and in it’s early form I had the pleasure of a great 70s community. Sadly with Escape’s new design we couldn’t incorporate the old threads into the new forum but so we don’t lose all those magical old chats we’ve collected them all here for you to go back and read.
