Anyone remember “Slade Socks?”

Muttley – So lets test the memories of the members of this esteemed forum-
Slade Socks were bright / garish to say the least. They were luminous socks in lime green, orange yellow or pink with a number of black hoops down the ankle. Sure to make you stand out in a crowd! All the rage around 1973/75.

Why they were particularly called “”Slade Socks”” I aint got a clue as other bands (Mud, Bay City Rollers – tho less said the better) wore striped / hooped socks as well.

If anyone can solve this totally trivial issue feel free to share their view.
Has anyone seen them around again?

Awombleforever – Hi Muttley my other half remembers them as he got sent home from school for wearing them. This was the late 60s though. He also wore yellow cords and a paisley shirt too, what a cool guy he must have been

Rennie – Hi Muttley if I remember right the lime green ones were the best. So bright you had to wear sun glasses. Went well with my pastel green brushed denim jeans

Rennie – I found a place that still sells them but it seems they’re out of stock so I’ve emailed them to find out if they’re getting any more.

Awombleforever – There made of nylon though Rennie.

Muttley – Has yer other half got over the shame of being sent home for that then Womble Tut Tut. Yeah Rennie the lime green ones were certainly my favourite. Thanks for the link tho R – hopefully they might get some more in and soon – esp the green ones

Muttley – By chance I happened to find another site that stocks these if anyone is interested http://www.kjbeckett.com/acatalog/menssocks_p3.html

Sadly with Escape’s new design we couldn’t incorporate the old threads into the new forum but so we don’t lose all those magical old chats we’ve collected them all here for you to go back and read.
