Jim Morrison, the lead singer of The Doors, died in Paris in 1971 from a suspected drug overdose. Jim had previously fantasised about faking his death and starting an anonymous life elsewhere, he had even planned to contact his office using the pseudonym and anagram ‘Mr Mojo Risin’. This undoubtedly fueled the rumors that he hadn’t actually died. The term ‘27 club’ was first used in 1971 when Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison all died at the age of 27 in the space of two years from 1969 — 1971. Kurt Cobain also joined this list 25 years later when he committed suicide in 1994.
