Space Toys

Boys and Sci Fi, we were so enjoying the left over of Land of the Giants, Star Trek, Lost in Space and Time Tunnel in the 1970s playground. But was there really a 1970s equivalent we jumped at?

Remember Space 1999 with the man from Mission Impossible. Well it has long forgotten but the toys were available too, like the Space 1999 belt with guns and belts. There were models of the Eagle ships, and a box that contained a Space 1999 watch, the tracer gun and communicator.

We had toys from The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman, dolls of both the main characters, but they were a little boring, as all you could do was make the “running fast” sound effect.

Maybe the film Alien was great for books and collectables, but I really do not remember any toys that I went out to buy, but I am sure a Alien doll must have been available. Do you remember anything along those lines?

70s Toys & Games

Remember the old retro toys you used to play with? Did you bounce about on spacehoppers, play pong or ride around on your cool Chopper? Can you recall the heroes Twirling Tim and Hurricane Hank, and who they used to do battle with in the arena? Did you used to come home from school with bruised knuckles from trying to beat 100 clacks on your Klackers? Or was you the studious type carefully making lovely patterns with your Spirograph which, no matter how careful you were, always seemed to cut through the paper turning your masterpiece into a mess.
