String-puppet series about the Byegones, who live in a medieval fort, and their enemies the Hasbeenes, who are determined to take control of Cloppa Castle.

The Bygones and the Hasbeens are fighting for Cloppa Castle. The Bygones struck oil, but the Hasbeens want a piece of the action so are constantly putting the castle under seige.

Cloppa Castle was made by Mary Turner and John Read, who used to work for Gerry Anderson. The puppets used an automated mouth movement like Anderson’s Supermarionation puppets.

Cloppa Castle is a medieval fort under permanent siege from a band of angry rebels, bent upon upsurping the throne. Unless it’s tea time, of course, in which case the friendly enemies will partake of a cuppa with their opposite number.

70’s Televison

What an amazing piece of kit our telly was. Can you imagine having to change channel by turning a knob to tune in BBC2 and forever getting up to realign the aerial and contrast, and the only way to stop the picture from rolling was to give the set a good thump? Do you remember that we only have three channels to watch? Thinking about it, the conversation was better at school next day as everyone seemed to be watching the same thing unlike nowadays where we have too much choice. Aye, the quality of programmes seem to have dwindled when you think back to what we had in our days.
