OK, if you are of a certain age you would probably remember Jimmy as a slightly chubby child dressed in an ill-fitting white Elvis style suit running up and down stage singing THAT song. James Arthur Osmond was born in 1963 and therefore was the youngest Osmond brother.
He appeared on stage several times with his brother and become a very popular star child. So much so that they decided to get Little Jimmy Osmond a single hit in 1972. The choice of song was Long Haired Lover From Liverpool, and the song was written by Christopher Kingsley and became No. 1 making Little Jimmy the youngest person to have achieved a number one song in the UK. A record that has yet to be broken, as Jimmy was at the time only nine. The song became the Christmas hit that year too.
The follow up hit Rockin’ Robin was weaker but still managed to chart high in the UK, but it was a hit for many people including Teresa Brewer in 1955. Teresa died in 207 and was responsible for recording over six hundred songs.
By now the novelty of a squeaky voice in the charts was wearing off and Jimmy had a small hit called Little Arrows and the last chart hit in the UK was I’m Gonna Knock On Your Door. This originally was a hit for the Isley Brothers way back in 1959. In 1961 it was a hit again by teenage star Eddie Hodges.
Jimmy starred in the 1976 film Hugo The Hippo and the 1978 film The Great Brain. The Little Jimmy Osmond is now a BIG businessman.
