Arsenal 1979 Cup Final

1979 Cup Winners – Alan Sunderland decides ”the five minute Final” as Arsenal beat Man Utd 3-2 It is widely regarded as one of the greatest-ever finishes in an FA Cup final. For over 85 minutes the game had been unremarkable, with Arsenal taking a 2–0 half time lead through goals from Brian Talbot and Frank Stapleton. In the 86th minute, however, Gordon McQueen scored following a set-piece, and two minutes later Sammy McIlroy dribbled past two Arsenal players to score a dramatic equaliser. With the game poised for extra time, United’s celebrations proved short-lived, as Alan Sunderland scored a last-minute winner.

Growing up in the 70's you were forced to pick a football team very early on and schooldays were made up of ribbing your mates if your team beat theirs so you always picked the top teams and not necessarily the local team (Leyton Orient weren't noted for their first division presence) to avoid the abuse if your team lost.

It's with regard to these memories that I'm exceptionally pleased to tell you that we've teamed up with the UK's leading online retro football shirt merchant to bring you all the old retro football shirts our heroes used to wear whilst we watched them on the terraces or on "The Big Match" .
