Seventies Man

I have a website that over the last few years I build up the charts from all of the 1970s- long way to go yet. But I also managed to find some of the charts that give the best selling singles of the year.

Here are a few shocks for 1970. Singalong!

Top Hits of 1970
1 Elvis Presley The Wonder Of You
2 Christie Yellow River
3 Mungo Jerry In The Summertime
4 Freda Payne Band Of Gold
5 Shirley Bassey Something
6 Lee Marvin Wanderin’ Star
7 Norman Greenbaum Spirit In The Sky
8 Simon & Garfunkel Bridge Over Troubled Water
9 England World Cup Squad Back Home
10 Free All Right Now

Back home has a major nostalgia rating for me. When I hear that Many days of short trousers and scuffed knees comes to mind.

Lee Marvin and Wanderin Star was the one I remember most from that time which is strange as it was a bit of a dirge is that the right word? lol

Seventies Man

Back Home reminds me of the time of my very first overnight scouting expedition in Wales. It was so cold and I was so hungry I quit the next week.

I am surprised that Spirit In The Sky was that old- did I hear he became a milkman?
