Citroen CX 2000-2200

£3,446 – £3,775 circa 1976
Acclaimed as Car of the Year in 1974 Citroen’s streamlined new comer with transverse engine and self-levelling hydro-pneumatic suspension offers a choice of two engines. With the larger unit come extras like tachometer, oil level indicator, tilt and height adjustment for driving seat, electric window lifts. Single-spoke steering wheel as usual, with excellent finger-tip controls. Relaxed economical motorway cruising is a feature.

Citroen’s new ‘big’ car is the best streamlined volume production four-door car in the world, the name ‘CX’ being the French term for drag co-efficient. In the Citroen manner the suspension is self levelling hydropneumatic, and the engine is from the old DS, but mounted transversely at the front. The CX 2200 is virtually identical except that the engine is the larger 2.2 litre unit.

All CX models are luxuriously trimmed, and the neat fascia is surrounded by control switches which can be fingertip operated without the driver relinquishing his hold of the one spoke steering wheel.

Cars of the 70’s

Something that is always of interest, especially to us blokes is cars, so looking back on the old motors of the 70s was certainly something of a treat. With a lot of thanks to all my classic car friends we've put together a great collection of 70s cars including the iconic Capri for you to have a look through, and to make it a little more interesting, we've written it all as if we were in the 70s and even inserted the going price for the cars at that time.
